Installation of Reverse Osmosis and Nano systems in Kurunegala

Introduction to this project

ROKY Holdings, in collaboration with the Foundation of Goodness, completed a project in a vital clean water initiative in Kurunegala. The project delivered its 22nd and 23rd Reverse Osmosis (RO) and Nano water filtration systems to Na Uyana Aranya Senasanaya and Kelimune village. These areas had long endured unsafe water sources and limited access to sanitation. The systems were installed to meet a pressing need for safe, accessible drinking water in rural Sri Lankan communities. Designed for durability and ease of use, each unit includes advanced filtration technology and full infrastructure support. ROKY Holdings’ continued partnerships with NGOs and local leaders reflect a strong commitment to long-term community wellbeing.

Challenges faced during the installation of Reverse Osmosis and Nano systems

For decades, residents of Kelimune and the monks at Na Uyana faced serious health concerns due to poor water quality. Many villagers relied on unfiltered sources, leading to frequent illnesses and costly medical care. Moreover, the time spent traveling for water impacted daily routines and educational opportunities. The introduction of the new systems marked a turning point. Clean water is now available within the village, reducing exposure to waterborne diseases and improving overall quality of life. Community members welcomed the installation warmly and collaborated with ROKY Holdings to ensure respectful integration into daily life. The inclusion of clean water canisters, distributed during the transition, offered immediate relief as the systems came online.

Summary

ROKY Holdings completed the installation of both water filtration systems on January 10, 2025. The full process, including setup and testing, took just under three weeks. Each system now provides clean drinking water to hundreds of people daily. The impact is already visible in improved health, reduced daily burdens, and greater peace of mind. This project reflects more than technical success—it represents shared values of dignity, collaboration, and equity.

“Access to clean water should be a right, not a privilege.”
