A survey done from 2009 to 2018 discovered that Badulla Province had an extremely high CKDu prevalence rate of 12.1%. Hambegamuwa Divisional Hospital, being a part of the Badulla Province, commonly experienced patients with CKDu due to the unclean water. However, even the hospital did not have access to well-treated water. Consuming poor quality water might aggravate the conditions of patients who are being admitted. The Foundation of Goodness (FOG) society noticed the need for a water filtration system. With the financial support from FOG, ROKY Holdings were able to assess the situation, understand the water quality and install an advanced RO water purification system.
The Hambegamuwa Divisional Hospital is a primary to secondary care facility. It consists of unit such as an OPD, an ETU, Inpatient wards and etc. The hospital serves a large number of patients during the day. It is also the workplace of numerous doctors, nurses and minor staff who spend the majority of their day in the hospital premises. All patients of the facility enter with the need to be relieved of any conditions and diseases they might be suffering from. Some patients spend weeks in the inpatient wards and consume the water in the hospital. Hence the cleanliness of the water is extremely important. Usually, an RO water purification system requires some manual work, where the customer might need to backwash the filter from time-to-time and etc. However, we noticed that the staff is very busy, and dedicated to making sure that the patients receive proper care and treatment. Hence, to avoid increasing the workload for them we installed an Advanced RO water purification system. This would allow the staff to continue treating their patients instead of worrying about the filtration system.
