ROKY Holdings completes another project at Kandegama Temple, situated in the heart of Rideemaliyedda village. This effort aimed to solve a basic but critical problem—lack of access to safe, clean drinking water. The Rideemaliyedda community had long suffered from water-related issues, impacting daily routines, hygiene, and public health. We selected Kandegama Temple for its central, symbolic importance to all villagers, regardless of age or social background.
It functions as a spiritual hub and a public gathering space, easily accessible to everyone in the village. Our team installed a 1500 Gallons Per Day (GPD) Reverse Osmosis water purification system at the temple premises. This capacity was chosen based on the village’s population and their average daily water consumption needs.
While the project had no major technical delays, selecting an inclusive, accessible location required thoughtful consideration. Private properties or government buildings risked limiting access, creating social or logistical barriers for certain community groups. The temple, however, stood out as neutral ground—free from political, religious, or demographic limitations. It was also the safest and most trusted site, visited daily by families, elders, and children alike.
Before the installation, many villagers relied on unfiltered or unreliable water sources, often located far from their homes. This posed serious health risks, especially during dry seasons when water quality would drastically decline. By delivering a reliable, centralized purification system, we reduced the community’s exposure to waterborne diseases and long travel. Monks, too, benefit from the system, as they previously depended on donations of bottled or untreated water.
The RO system was installed quickly and efficiently by the ROKY Holdings team, completing all work within a few weeks. It now provides 1,500 gallons of purified water daily to the entire Rideemaliyedda community, including the temple’s residents. The system helps reduce illness, save time, and uplift everyday life through improved access to this essential resource. By choosing a central spiritual site, we ensured that no one is excluded from this critical service. ROKY Holdings continues to prioritize small-scale, high-impact projects that transform lives through simple, sustainable infrastructure. This project stands as a symbol of unity, purpose, and progress driven by the community’s most essential need—water.
